This section provides links to offender health and social care research that spans the offender 'pathway', broadly reflecting the structure of the Criminal Justice System and the Government's Offender Health strategy, which likewise spans the agencies that constitute the Criminal Justice System. This 'pathway' perspective is being developed to meet the needs of those who encounter all parts of the CJS, who have committed, or are suspected of committing, a criminal offence. In essence, the aim of the Government's offender health strategy is to improve health and well-being, address health inequalities, reduce re-offending and crime, and protect the public. Further details are available from 'Improving Health, Supporting Justice: A Consultation Document - A strategy for improving health and social care services for people subject to the criminal justice system'.
